LUBA 2 AWD 5000: Perimeter Wire Free Robot Lawn Mower

Luba 2, we named Gromit (Wallace & Gromit - he is the smart in technical knowledge one), provides excellent support for a needed application. Our lawn has a 5+ % grade. Such a grade on complex slopes creates a situation where manual mowing becomes an unpleasant and a few times an unsafe experience. Our lawn is 1/2 acre (U.S.). Luba 3000 is a serviceable fit for the application since it is rated above what the task creates.

Mammotion is attentive and knowledgeable. They provide a comforting supportive customer experience. More than once, support moved the problem out of the way. Access is quick and meaningful. Your staff show honesty and pride in your products.

Principally, connectivity and update issues are what is experienced. Today while Luba 2 was mowing, the RTK POS went steady blue and Luba 2 went into positioning mode meaning it was searching for spatial orientation. Support promptly forwarded the problem to the department, and we will watch for an email. Having the Luba 2 10 days, this is the first time for the occurrence.

Overall, the heftiness and sturdy construction for the price point is most appreciated. Yet, the robustness of operation is clearly there. Tremendous battery, see attach Mammotion map. I can depend on the product for the application.

Luba 2 Mows N Rows. - Terry Wright

The hardware is possibly the best on the market, but at this point you really need above average app skills to get consistent performance due to the app issues that pop up pretty consistency. However, my yard looks like it is freshly mowed everyday. (Because it pretty much is) I spend a lot of time perfecting, cleaning and figuring out how to make it better. If your a little geeky, it absolute heaven. It's a functional piece of equipment that is the best toy one could ever have. I have not started my mower in 4 months.
My main concern is all the customer service complaints. Most I am sure, are due to users just not reading the manual and following instructions. But no question, many are due to a poorly trained, or not trained, support staff. If I lost it, ran over it or it was stolen, I would buy another.

For the last four years I’ve had yard services. They’ve ranged from terrible to worse. I live in Georgia With Zoysia and Clover areas. I also have magnolia trees on the perimeter of the zoysia which shed leaves profusely, especially May through July. So I have a battle of blowing leaves before mowing. Luba does not do a good job mulching these tough leaves. So I have been eyeing the Yuba In the future, after the bugs are worked out.
I consider myself reasonably knowledgeable of Wi-Fi and automated products. Knowledgeable of GPS and amateur frequency radio. This does help while setting up the best place for the RTK. Satellite reception is critical for this to work. Both satellite and robot must see a Constellation of at least 20 satellites each.
I am totally impressed with the quality of mowing and it’s adherence to the schedule the paths, zones and perimeters that have been laid out. A hard part with this is learning how to manly drive robot for a smooth perimeter path. It logs your jittery driving. There are a few issues with the vision system that causes it to go out of its path due to some higher weeds, that have managed to escape the normal growing speed of the surrounding grass. I don’t believe the software is refined enough to learn from previous encounters of non-mapped irregularities.
I’ve read some users have encountered hardships with software updates. Knock on wood I am not one of them. Although today, July 24, I’m about to do an RTK and robot update. If that is successful, I’m going to install cellular card and see how that works or changes operation.
If you are expecting to use this as a remote mower, expect to travel occasionally to do minor tweaks. It is not Mars Rover stable and sophisticated enough ( yet ) to do that at this time. You will need to tinker occasionally.

Having said all these things negatively. I love this little dude and the work it performs. It will change how you do your yard. Expect string trimming and mowing at places just to make it easier for the robot. I’m anxious for Yuba to be more stable to attack my magnolia leaves.
Finally, I don’t know what it is, but it sure is fun sitting on the porch, with an adult beverage, watching just how this thing will attack your new paths and mowing grids.
PS. Do your homework on the best place for the RTK. If you choose to move it all your maps become useless.

I'm amazed at how accurate the mower is staying withing the defined boundaries. Overall it does a great job. I think the phone app could be better and I wish it would automatically vary the mowing pattern, but overall I'm very satisfied with the mower.
