Luba 2 AWD 5000

This is the best investment I have made in as long as I can remember. The GPS sensing technology makes this unit very accurate and precise. I hope they continue to develop the APP so there is a setting that could be used to have the unit completely recharge instead of charging to 80% then heading back out to work. Not a big deal but just something I would like to see. I have yet to find anything in the functionality of the unit that makes me question the purchase. And I am the guy that said I will never own one so I am eating those words now.

Does as it’s supposed to, but does not work well in the suburbs.

I purchased the Yuka 1500 and a Sweeper Attachment Kit to go with it. The robot does as it is supposed to: mows, sweeps up the clippings, and dumps them in the space you designate. However, I am returning it because I do not have the resources or type of open-to-the-sky, away-from-rooflines/-other-buildings space on my property to make Yuka work appropriately, and without my constant supervision. The last suggestion made to me by the support chat was to mount the RTK unit on the roof, and to move the charging station out from under my covered patio, I’d have to rip out established landscaping. (Note: property is a high-density suburban neighborhood, where the closest homes are about 10 feet away from the outer walls of your home). Robot lawn mower is a great concept, and I would consider purchasing in the future if I lived elsewhere, or if the technology advanced enough to allow better satellite signaling. The rest of this review comments towards things I would have done differently, and tips to help others:
1. Product requires more assembly than expected (approx. 2-3 hrs by myself, includes both the robot and sweeper kit, and initial plug-in/app connection). I found success in downloading the manual (with pictures and words), instead of depending on the manual provided (pictures only). It might be best to have a buddy to assemble with for an extra pair of hands.
2. The support chat is WONDERFUL! They understood my requests and questions pretty quickly, and provided solutions. Very kind and patient people.
3. Your RTK unit and Robot may not have the latest software/firmware coming out of the box. After assembling, plugging in for the first time, and connecting to your Mammotion app, consider checking to see if there’s a new software/firmware to download.
4. As I mentioned, you’ll want to install your RTK station and Robot charging station in such a way where they are not covered by rooflines, or too close to other buildings. (Mammotion’s website and manuals state this clearly, and that is definitely the key to success. After the 3rd time of attempting to use the robot - after programming, a test to see how well it would do without my supervision - it basically said “I’m Lost!” About 1/2 a foot away from the charging station, because the RTK was too close to the house next-door, and the robot sat on its charger under my covered patio).
5. Try to find a dumping site that is not in the middle of your lawn that is being mowed (Ex: If robot is mowing in Task Area 1, and Dump site is also in Task Area 1, the robot will avoid and not mow a large area around the dump site in Task Area 1.)
6. While it is great to have a robot that can ideally run itself, beware of kids and pets that are not your own who may be outdoors while the robot is working. Neighbor child (young, still learning safety/boundaries) went RUNNING up to the robot in motion, and approached from the side - I luckily was there and pushed the pause button right away through the app. Thankfully, the only button the child pushed was the “STOP” button on top of the robot. Parent was right there, and no one was hurt, though I feared the robot would not sense the child was there, and run over the child’s feet (again, child approached from the side, unexpectedly, where there are no vision cameras on the robot).
7. Before purchasing, consider your aptitude for technology and the use of smartphones and their apps. Once you’re connected to the app, you are programming straight from there, which includes figuring out how you’re connected to the internet, updating software, programming mowing areas and channels by which the robot will get to each location in your yard. Because I had trouble programming it (again - satellite connection issues in a suburban neighborhood), I spent a lot of time manually driving the robot around the yard through the app (think joystick/keyboard arrow-key type of driving).
If I can edit this review after the return process is complete, I will. So far, the instructions have been clear. Just be sure to keep the box it arrived to you in, and consider taking a picture of each “level” of styrofoam packing material or noting what items came from which internal boxes/slots. Because I don’t have the resources to pick up the robot’s box (approx. weight is 60 lbs.) and drop it off at the local shipping store, I am planning to schedule a pickup with the shipping company from my property.
Bottom line: This is a great concept and would be a huge help to anyone with a busy schedule, or anyone who is unable to find a gardener, or anyone who may not be able to mow their lawn like they used to. With the robot’s technology as it currently sits, this would be best suited to a home that has much larger space in between houses, and to an owner/operator who feels comfortable with programming the robot themselves.
Wishing you the best of luck with your robot lawn mower, and very curious to see how this technology develops over the years!

I did not received a sweeper kit , when I purchased this YUKA 1500: 3D Vision Robot Lawn Sweeping Mower , it clearly said that it has a sweeper kit. Now when I ask I was said that it should be a separate order. I cannot get hold of support on a phone call I would like to return but not sure of the process also . Little frustrated :(

No response to an inquiry

I used the Mammotion website email to ask a question prior to purchasing the 10000H. I have never received a response, therefore I won’t be making the purchase. If there is no customer service prior to a sale one can only assume what it will be like after a sale. I actually was looking forward to replacing two wire boundary mowers with a Mammotion mower, guess I’ll keep investigating other brands.

Awesome product

Awesome product so far (3 weeks). No issues, and I was initially worried because of all reported problems. It looks like most issues have been fixed with software updates by the time I bought it.
My lawn is very uneven with holes and bumps, but Yuka handles it all like a superhero. It just works, getting out of holes and climbing bumps easily (no sweeper purchased).

Six tips:
1. Position the RTK device with a clear view of the sky. If you need to compromise, make sure the southern sky (and above) is unobstructed.
2. Divide the yard into sections; I did front, back, side 1, and side 2.
3. Use RF for communication between the RTK and the Yuka (not Wi-Fi).
4. Don’t expect perfect results on the first few passes. Give it a week and mow every day or every other day.
5. Take your time learning how to set up the areas. Perhaps, start with two small areas and a path between them to get a feel for the task. It is annoying but you only do it once, at the beginning.
6. Give up on very tight parts of the lawn where Yuka cannot turn back (I have such a chunk between my house, patio, and grill).

The robot mower rocks!

I was tired of mowing the lawn, so I hired someone to mow. They charged me $750 to mow for one season. I then came across the Yuka 1500 and decide to give it a try. I purchased the mower without the sweeper kit for about $1500. I figure it will pay for itself in about two years. What I like is the fact that the grass is always so nice looking using the Yuka, and it is fun to operate and watch it mow. I get a lot of looks from the neighbors and even someone stopped in their car to take photos. The only thing I am worried about is someone stealing it, so I never leave it outside; I always put it in the garage when done. Kind of a hassle, but better safe than sorry. It's my new favorite "toy." :-)

I had a little trouble getting it to charge the very first time but it turned out I did not have the charging station level enough. It must be level to charge. After that it has been working great.

better than most. Not as good as the old version

I have been a user since Luba 1 5000. It worked almost flawlessly except when major software releases were forced out before proper testing. Since the emphasis has been on updates for the Luba2 I decided to purchase the latest model. In my opinion to much development is being spent on bells and whistles like pattern cutting and not enough time has been spent on what the end users are asking for. Luba1 was great Luba2 should have been better. This has not been my experience so far. Luba 1 would cut completely independently. Luba 2 has not been able to complete my lawn yet without my intervention.

Outstanding customer service from Aurora.

I was having trouble with my Luba 2 5000. It was not charging properly. I contacted Mammotion customer support. I was connected with an Aurora with Mammotion and walked me through the problem. Note. Clean the infrared window on the charging station and on the back of the robot.

Expensive lawn ornament

After some startup problems that took a couple weeks to resolve, and a significant learning curve, I finally got my Luba 2 working, mowing my lawn. Two weeks later it now refuses to charge in its docking station. It's dead, Jim.

Luba 1 is excellent! Luba2 looks better!

I have the older Luba 1. I am on my second season. This thing works great! I mow my lawn and my 80 year old neighobors lawn too! I mow about 1.5 acres of grass with my luba1 5000. I will definitely get the luba 2 when my mower wears out. The mower cuts three grass perfectly and I like the stripes it leaves. Looks really nice.

Bossy the electric cow.

Just got this mower a week ago. It took eight hours to learn how to operate and control this beast. But now she has turned into our electric cow. She goes out and raises for hours comes back to her barn to rest a little and then goes out and raises some more and I truly appreciate this. I haven’t had any troubles with this unit yet, it took a minute to figure out how to set up a no mow zone. But now my whole yard is mapped in my life just got much easier.

It's done exactly what I wanted flawlessly

This mower works great. I don't really have to do anything to it. 20 minutes to set up out of the box, another 10 to set my first mowing task up. I wish it had a little stronger gps module or a wifi6 chip, but it works well as is.

Robot Is Great, Map Logic Needs Work

The mower itself is an impressive beast, and it's doing a fantastic job.

However, when breaking up a large (1/3 acre corner log) yard into 3 more manageable task areas, it's quite tricky, because the areas cannot overlap. It is therefore inevitable that you'll have a strip of grass that is in neither area. If you accidentally overlap even a tiny bit, it throws away the entire new task area and you have to start over.

It would make much more sense to either
a. Allow the overlap. Big deal if a strip of grass gets mowed twice.
b. Automatically subtract any overlap from the new task area.

Secondly, you can't mark a shed as a no-go area, then put the charging dock adjacent to the shed. It complains that it's in a no-go area, and doesn't even give you the option to define a channel for the mower to back into its charger. What if I wanted to park it on the driveway next to the garage, which is not mowable yard area? That's a perfectly sensible place to have it park and charge, but it's not allowed. Absolutely silly.

I still gave it 5 stars because everything is still under active development. I've upgraded firmware three times, and I've only had the system a couple weeks. So it's somewhat likely that these and other issues will be improved (and made frankly sensible) in the coming weeks.

Another complaint: this review form has a spot for a YouTube URL.

I pasted https://www.youtube.com/shorts/B_S5yzSnxuo and the form responded "Not a YouTube video URL". Uh, the hell it isn't. It absolutely is, ya dumb dorks.

So far everything is working great, some small strips missed on the first mow, but easily fixed with manually mowing those areas with the robot. A lot of user error starting off with setup but modifications of map were easy, app is easy to use. I strongly recommend this product, the cut quality is very nice and clean. Very straight lines and alot of customization in the app for each mow.
